Twice a year, CSRT takes in new recruits to be trained to become team members.
In order to be considered, you must attend an induction day which is split into two parts. In the morning, you will learn more about the work of the team and what is expected of team members. This covers the training and personal kit requirements as well as what it means to be on the call-out list.
In the afternoon, you will be taken out to join the team on an actual search & rescue exercise so you can see, first hand, what is involved.
If you like what you see – and we think you have something to offer the team – you will be accepted as a trainee and invited to begin the 6 month training period.
You don’t need to be a mountaineer or climber to apply to join but we are looking for people with outdoor experience. Navigation and first aid skills are all helpful but we can train you in these areas. What we especially look for is the enthusiasm and dedication to make it through the training stage and the ability to think for yourself but also work as part of a team.
If you are interested, and think you have what it takes, our next induction is on Sunday 24th June on Bodmin Moor. You need to register in advance and complete an application form. Contact us on 01637 881647 or email
