Like all teams, we have to train constantly. Sometimes it is classroom based but much of the time, we like to get out and about and thought we would share a couple of photos of team members involved in training at some pretty impressive locations:
Underground Cas-Care whilst suspended from a rope
Team Chairman doing a spot of abseiling
Of course, it's not all dark & dreary places. Like the Wombles, we go underground & overground:
Team members set up a highline at Cligga
Some people take it all in their stride:

All CSRT members have basic rope skills but our specialist rope team is able to support the Fire Brigade and other emergency services in rope and difficult access rescue operations.
We would like to thank the staff and customers of Morrisons in Newquay for their kindness and generosity at our recent collection days at their Store in Newquay.
We raised a fantastic £980.43 over two days on 22nd & 23rd August and this will really help us to continue our vital work in what looks to be heading for our busiest year yet with over 40 callouts to date and 4 months of the year still to go. (See our callouts page for details of latest incidents).
Without your help we would not be able to continue so from all of us to all of you a great big THANK YOU.

Team members attended Camborne Fire Station on Saturday 16th August as part of their annual open day. We took our Control Vehicle (K84) and displayed a selection of our kit.
Children seemed to enjoy dressing up in the water safety kit, seeing how far they could throw the throw lines and of course activating the blue lights and siren on K84.
Colleagues from Police and Coastguard were also present and Fire crews demonstrated crash rescue equipment and the highly effective 'fire dogs'
Despite the poor weather, a good time was had by all - and the BBQ, teas, coffes and home made cakes were all particualrly excellent.
Many thanks to the crews at Camborne for inviting us to take part.

We would like to thank the members of the St Germans Garden Club who organised an open day earlier this summer and donated the proceeds to Cornwall Search & Rescue Team.
We have just heard that they raised an impressive £115.40 - even more impressive when you consider it was open to Garden Club members only and it rained for part of the day!
The Club made our Chairman very welcome and he enjoyed visiting each of the three gardens on show.
Donations like this make a big difference to a small charity like ours and will, for example, keep a vehicle in fuel for a month! Just 12 such donations and one of our two ambulances is kept on the road for a year. To quote a well known supermarket - Every Little Helps!
Once again a huge thanks to St Germans Garden Club.

CSRT's Open Day on Sunday 3rd August at Minions on Bodmin Moor was a great success (despite the rain).
We were able to show a number of potential new recruits what being a team member means as well as giving members of the public a glimpse into our work. With workshops on Navigation, Search Techniques and First Aid there was plenty to see.
We also welcome Daniel Palmer to the callout list after he successfully completed his assessment on the moor.
Future intakes will be at two monthly intervals thanks to our re-designed training programme so if you missed this one, there will be another one along soon. Watch this space...!

We would like to say a BIG 'thank-you' to Mounts Bay Rotary Club for a fantastic donation of £300 following our attendance at their annual St Michaels Way Walk, back in May.
This is one of the regular 'Stand By Rescue Covers' we provide each year and has become a firm favourite with our members.
As we struggle to cope with the spiralling costs of diesel for our two ambulances, donations from groups and individuals become ever more important in keeping us operational.
Another vital part of our fund raising comes from the collecting tins we have out around the county. Several tins have recently been emptied and we would like to thank the staff and customers of the following establishments for their kind support:
Colliford Lake Cafe - £15.24; Halfway House (A38, Twowatersfoot) - £13.54; Jamaica Inn Shop - £11.84; Kingsley Services, Fraddon - £18.71
If you or your group or business would like to help Cornwall Search & Recue Team, contact our fundraising officer, Kelvin, on 01637 881647 or email

Devon & Cornwall Police have recently launched a service on their website to raise the profile of searches for people reported missing in the force area.
Link to D&C; Police 'Missing Persons'
This will hopefully provide extra information from the public which will help police and search teams such as CSRT to locate missing people swiftly and effectively.

At approx 2am on Sunday morning, our triumphant 4 Peak Challenge Team came home to Cornwall to climb the final peak, Cornwall's highest, Brown Willy.
To their suprise, they were not alone on Brown Willy - even at 2am on a Sunday morning!
Team members Kelvin, Jay and Heath were there to meet them with an impromptu celebration BBQ & champagne!
Paul Miller, Steve Puckey, Steve Payne and Andy Thomas have spent the last 3 days climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, Wales, Engalnd and Cornwall to raise funds for the team.
Supported by team members Nige Hutchings and Sean Penhaligon, they acheived this amazing feat in the early hours of the morning.
We would like to thank them and all their supporters and sponsors for their continuing support without which, the team could not continue.

We are thrilled to annouce that Cornwall Search & Rescue Team has been named as the chosen charity of the year for 2008.
Crealy, which is one of the county's leading tourist attractions, is situated near St Issey and has already supported the team in a very practical way by allowing the use of buildings on site for indoor training for the team's specialised rope unit.
Over the course of the year, we look forward to working closely with Crealy and offering opportunities for the public to meet the team, and find out more about its work, at the Adventure Park.
In the meantime, you can read more about this story by clicking below.
