Funding News

Some good news for the team this week. We have received a cheque from the Woodroffe Benton Foundation for £500 for the purchase of water safety equipment. This will be used to purchase additional equipment to protect team members when working around water.

We also recieved confirmation that the Pirate Trust are to make a donation of £1000 towards the purchase of helmets for each team member. These are required for working at height or when working in or around military helicopters.

We are very grateful to both trusts for supporting our life-saving work and thank them sincerely..

Our thanks to Truro Running Club

Each year, on New Year's Day, team members provide rescue cover for Truro Running Club's Jamaica Inn - Brown Willy Fun Run. We were delighted and surprised to receive a cheque for £400 from them for our efforts this year. This will go towards essentisal team kit and we are extremely grateful for their generosity.

A Date for Your Diary

This year's Cornwall 999 Day will take place on Saturday 19th June at the Eden Project. We are delighted to announce that CSRT has been named as the benefitting charity for all funds raised so please do try and come along. As well as meeting us, you can see demonstrations from Police, Fire, Ambulance, Coastguard, RNLI, Military and dozens of others. Pop the date in your diary now.

Severe Weather

Well the worst of the severe weather seems to be over for Cornwall though there are still patches of snow and ice around. Luckily, we weren't quite as stretched as some of our Mountain Rescue colleagues up country but we were able to assist where requested. We are now back to our normal training regime and are looking out for 'volunteer casualties' to help with a special training session coming up soon.

Well done Matt!

Congratulations to Matt Robertson who will be receiving an MBE for his contribution to developing the use of dogs in policing and mountain rescue work.

Matt is a police dog handler with the Ministry of Defence police at Devonport and he is also a dog handler with the Search and Rescue Dog Association. His current search dog Scoot is one of the five dog teams with Dartmoor - SRT Tavistock, along with the three other dog teams across the region on Exmoor, Plymouth and our own search dog and handler team - Shaun and his dog Tigger.
