[33] SEARCH - Liskeard, 17/08/2015 04:50

The team were called in the early hours of this morning to assist Devon & Cornwall Police searching for a 63-year-old gentleman missing from Liskeard Community Hospital since Sunday night. Team members were joined by a SARDA search dog team and a foot team and ‘hasty team’ from Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team - Tavistock.

After a short search of the surrounding area, the missing male was located safe and well by a foot team on the edge of a local housing development. We was evacuated by stretcher (and police escort!) back to the hospital in surprisingly good spirits. Press story here…

[31] SEARCH - Temple, Bodmin Moor 09/08/2015 11:00

The team were called to assist Devon & Cornwall Police in the search for a missing 82-year-old male along the southern edge of Bodmin Moor.

Sixteen team members were joined by six SARDA search dog teams and navigators who were coincidentally attending a nearby training course on Dartmoor.

As the first search phase was coming to an end the gentleman was found by a member of the public just outside our core search area. Apart from minor injuries, he was safe and well and was reunited with his family.

[30] SEARCH - Brown Willy, Bodmin Moor, 05/08/2015 15:47

In some not-so-summery Cornish weather, foot teams and a search dog team were deployed this afternoon to search for a 21-year-old walker (and dog) who had got lost in thick fog/cloud whilst crossing Bodmin Moor.

Man and dog were found by man and dog (search dog Izzy (left, out training) and handler Jim) and apart from being very wet and cold, they were safely walked off and taken off the moor by Land Rover.

 

[28a] SEARCH - Tehidy Woods, 20/07/2015 13:31

Yesterday’s search for a despondent female continued today, with the focus shifting to the Tehidy Woods area, where a foot team and SARDA search dog team completed hasty checks and area searches throughout the woods. The team were stood down early evening and thankfully the missing female returned home safe later in the day.

[26] RESCUE - St Breward, 16/07/2015 09:00

Several team members were involved in a multi-agency rescue this morning, assisting Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service and the South Western Ambulance Service HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) to evacuate a male with a possible spinal injury from a steep-sided valley near St Breward. The technical rescue involved rigging four independent hauling and safety lines to allow the safe extraction of the casualty to land ambulance, before being finally evacuated by Devon Air Ambulance. We wish him well and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

[25] SEARCH - Gweek, nr. Helston, 06/07/2015 17:30

Fourteen members and a SARDA search dog attended a call out at Gweek to look for a 48 year old male suffering with Down’s Syndrome and dementia who last seen at around 1530 hrs. We were also joined by 3 police dogs and Rescue helicopter 193 from RNAS Culdrose to help with searching the extensive woods and surrounding farmland.

Thankfully the male was safely located by a police dog handler at around 1900 hrs. News story here.

[22] RESCUE - Minions, Bodmin Moor, 20/06/2015 05:45

SWAST (SouthWest Ambulance Service) called out the team early this morning to assist a 74-year-old male suffering chest pains whilst out with an organised group in the Rillaton Barrow area of Bodmin Moor.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of paramedics the male died whilst still on the hill. The team then recovered him to a waiting ambulance.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
