Moorland Safety

A major part of the teams role is to ensure that people who venture out onto the moors won’t need to call on our help in the first place. We attend a number of local events throughout the year to provide rescue covers and give information about safe and responsible use of the moors.

A couple of simple safety rules which will help you get the most out of your trip are:

  • Take a map and compass (and know how to use them!)
  • Always take a torch
  • Tell someone where you are going
  • Ensure you have the right footwear (most injuries on the moor are ankle related)
  • Get a good weather forecast
